Children’s Activities at Wolgan Valley

Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa has designed a range of stimulating and fun-filled nature-based activities specifically for its younger guests. With the resort’s knowledgeable Field Guides who will offer a variety of inspiring suggestions, children will have the chance to explore and spot the kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and birdlife that are the native residents of the valley.

Each activity has been developed taking into consideration its impact on its surrounding habitat and indigenous wildlife species.

Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa is recommended for children over the age of eight, however facilities are available for younger children.

This activity combines the natural environment with a child’s imagination. Art supplies such as bark, leaves, grass, sticks and flowers are collected from the property by the children (with the Guide’s help) and turned into wonderful real life artworks. The children create a collage using these natural elements and by using their imaginations, they bring them back to life! This activity is available all year round even in wet weather conditions.

A great opportunity for children to learn basic bush survival techniques as well as incorporating traditional Aboriginal culture in a safe and fun environment. Led by a Field Guide, the children will learn navigational techniques, shelter building, animal tracking, how to find food and water, hunting techniques as well as learning a great deal about the environment. This activity is subject to weather conditions.

Learn to shoot a bow and arrow in safe and controlled conditions in our specially selected Archery area. A Field Guide will instruct the children on the correct method of use and safety using recurve bows. Parents are welcome to accompany their children to either watch or participate using adult compound bows. This activity is great for the whole family, but for safety reasons is subject to weather conditions.

Take an exciting drive in one of our Polaris all terrain vehicles. A Field Guide will take the children for a safe but adrenalin-boosting spin around the property. Parents are welcome to accompany the children on the drive. This activity is available all year round and fun in any type of weather!

For children under the age of 15 we offer led horse rides inside our riding arena, located at our stable precinct. Each child is shown the basic techniques of horse riding by one of the Field Guides and led around the arena. The Horse Arena is very safe to ride in and the children are constantly monitored. Parents can enjoy refreshments from the comfort of the viewing deck of the stables and watch the children ride. This activity is offered all year round and no prior experience is necessary.

Children that have had prior experience or training and are deemed capable within the arena area may be eligible to try one of our Horse Trail Rides.

For children aged 5 and under, a Horse Experience offers a child the chance to meet a horse in a safe environment. Parents and children can be shown the correct way to greet a horse and feed them a piece of apple or two! This activity is offered all year round.

What is more fun than flying a kite? Making the kite yourself! This activity involves designing and creating you own kite from materials provided. Under the supervision of a Field Guide, the children will make one kite each. Once the kite is built and decorated, then it is time to see how it flies! This activity is subject to wind conditions.
